Complete in God’s Presence

This week was a tough week. I guess the excitement of going into a three-day weekend always brings a level of impatience. I had a list of things that I wanted to accomplish before the week was up.

Then I was met with much opposition. Many challenges made me think, what was I doing wrong? Was God there?

The truth was. Yes. He was there.

God’s presence does not mean that things are perfect. God’s presence means that he is there. Where he is, there is strength and fullness of joy. There is peace, and we overcome. There is wisdom, and there is grace.

And somehow, my confidence was there. My boldness was there. I looked around and was teaching better and writing better and growing.

God’s presence is sufficient. It is perfect. It makes me complete.

Habakkuk 3:17–19

Though the fig tree does not bud
and there are no grapes on the vines,
though the olive crop fails
and the fields produce no food,
though there are no sheep in the pen
and no cattle in the stalls,
yet I will rejoice in the Lord,
I will be joyful in God, my Savior.

The Sovereign Lord is my strength;
he makes my feet like the feet of a deer,
he enables me to tread on the heights.
