Five Minute Friday — Assume

Everyone assumes that my road to education was filled with open doors. These days, I am working in a profession that I enjoy. I love teaching my students and being in education. I love the idea of mentoring future teachers overseas and here in the United States. For me, the idea of constantly learning and growing entices me.

But when I think of the road to education, it came with many closed doors. It is always easy to assume that closed doors are from the enemy, but maybe they are God leading us in a different direction. A better direction.

“I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.” — Revelations 3:8.

God is the keeper of the doors. He is the one that opens and shuts the doors. And God uses those doors to open up to a bigger and better picture. And that bigger picture is always to build his kingdom and for his glory. I always comment that I never imagined my life to be what it is. My life is beyond my wildest dreams, but that is because I constantly try to put God in control of my dreams.

Dear Reader,

Just as Revelations 3:8 says, God places open doors before us that no one can shut; but I want to add that is if we let him close the doors that need to be closed. We do this by walking out in his conviction and his purpose. I pray that we do not assume that closed doors are the enemy and that we believe that God is with us through every open and closed door. And if we step out in faith, we are always to assume we are walking out our purpose in the Lord.

Love,

Deirdre
