Five Minute Friday — God’s Access to Our Story

Since I was a child, the library has been my playground. I would go as a child and spend hours there. I loved doing my research papers there and finding books there. Most things have stayed the same. :)

Between being sick and busy, I haven’t been and miss going.

Being a preschool teacher, I love the children’s section. Turning the pages of a fresh book and seeing the colorful illustrations always help me jump into the pages and dive into the story. I enjoy taking my son with me, but there are days that I go on my own.

I always love to think about the thought process behind the author and even pose the question to my son. For me, the author has total access to the story. They control the setting, characters, and plot. They even have access to what the characters look like and work with the illustrator.

What do you think the author was thinking with this storybook?

I wonder about God. God has so much access to my story, wonder what he thought when he wrote my story. The day I saw a baby cow born in Japan. Especially the plot twist of me marrying my husband in the military and walking through multiple deployments. Or me losing important and dear family members. Or us adopting our incredible son from South Africa. None of it makes no sense. But he knows us. He knew us before we were born and appointed us to the nations.

Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations. Jeremiah 1:5

Dear Reader,

God wrote your story. With all of the twists and turns, he knows how it will end. And scripture tells us that you will overcome it all through faith.

Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. 1 John 4:4

I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world. John 16:33

Take heart, reader. Keep your faith in God. He has access to your story. You will come out strong.

Love,

Deirdre
