Five Minute Friday-Just Receive!
I’ve always watched people raise money and receive it very quickly. One time I tried to raise funds for a mission trip and had the most challenging time. Granted, I only fundraised for one day, but I was so frustrated. I vowed after that I would not fundraise for anything again.
Fast forward twelve years later, I’ve finished our budget, which is tight with no wiggle room. With walking through a second adoption, daily maintenance for us as a family, and our son’s extra-curricular activities, I needed to budget tightly. I wanted to attend a conference for adoptive moms but could not find money in the budget. It would be an extra expense with fees for the conference and hotel fees. However, I could if someone paid for our ticket. I saw a posting on Facebook, and a beautiful sister was willing to give her ticket as a scholarship for another mother. I saw this and thought, I want to get this ticket, but I feel it should go to someone else with less money. The Holy Spirit quickly prompted me to ask the woman for the money. “You prayed that someone would give you the money to go, you gave me an exact amount, and I am providing it for you; receive IT!” I felt Him saying.
This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. 1 John 5:14
To pray in Jesus’ name is to pray based on Jesus’ authority, but it also involves praying according to the will of God, for the will of God is what Jesus always did (John 6:38). He hears us. He sees us. He knows what we need and what we don’t need. He knew I needed to fellowship with other adoptive mothers and to be encouraged.
Dear Reader,
I will encourage you to know that if you ask in God’s name, God is faithful to give us what we need according to his will. If it is given to us, receive it. Don’t take away a gift that God is giving us. I hope you will receive all the good gifts God is giving you.
Love,
Deirdre
