Five Minute Friday — Order and Rest

Every Friday, I join a community of bloggers for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt, five minutes. And I literally write it in 5 minutes. The prompt this week is … order.

A couple of weeks ago my husband and I were exhausted. We’ve been so busy with being new adoptive parents, new jobs, new side-hustles, and tons of family events.

While everything around us seemed in order, WE did not seem in order. We were so disconnected and had no together time to just breathe a bit. We looked at each other and thought to ourselves that we needed a break. The world was our oyster for about 4 days. We decided that we would go someplace not too far, but not so close. I went to google and saw Lancaster, PA. I thought to myself, Let’s Go!! :)

I think about 20 years ago never imagining myself loving a place like Lancaster, but I do. Lancaster is a farm country. Pretty peaceful. The people are very polite and the food is pretty good.

And the nature reserves are just what we needed to explore. We were off hiking and we came to a sweet spot at the end. We stared at this red wooded bridge surrounded by trees with a creek going under it. It was magical. All of a sudden I thought of the bridge from us to God. We need him. We can not all things without him.

THANK you, God, for acknowledging that rest always brings things in order. On our way back from the bridge, we spoke about how we will try our best to give ourselves a day of rest together to bring our life in order.

In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety. Psalm 4:8
