Five Minute Friday-Propose

“I propose that you rest that I can do impossible,” says God.

I remember God saying this to me clearly because it was a couple of days ago. I had just received an important phone call that shared difficult news. My family and I are possibly going through a huge change. In making a decision, we are weighing the pros and cons. After weighing the pros and cons, we found ourselves more confused.

“We definitely can not decide this in our own strength,” I said to my husband.

Feeling heavy and stressed, I took my questions to God. I felt I needed his help.

I went for a quiet walk and was drawn to the place by these tall green trees at my local park. I felt God’s peace, and I heard him say, “I propose that you rest that I can do the impossible,” says God.

He led me to Matthew 19:26: Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

In this story, the disciples are learning the key to salvation. Jesus is sharing with them that this is possible through God. If God sending Jesus is strong enough to save us from our sins, surely he could help my husband and me walk through this tough decision we had to make.

And we did. We accepted God’s proposal that day. We chose the tough road. One of the impossibilities, but we are comforted in knowing that the one who makes the impossible- possible will sustain us.
