Five Minute Friday — Trust

Currently, I’m writing devotions based on trust. I am drawing my inspiration from my students, who have taught me that trusting is a part of life. It is the core of a relationship between a child and their parent or teacher. What I’ve learned about my students and the life of a child, they are very trusting. They are willing to take risks and eager to use support to achieve a goal. I’ve helped many students climb across the monkey bars or helped students climb trees. I had a student working on her gross motor skills and helped her complete a complex move on a bar she would formally hang from.

Jesus says in Matthew 18, Jesus tells us “whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” Having faith like a child requires putting aside our will. This way, our opinions and misconceptions do not get in the form of trusting Christ wholeheartedly. When we have to trust Christ wholeheartedly, we ignore any life experience and everything in front of us, and we place our trust in Christ. This leads us to study trust and ask questions about the word sincerely. What is trust? Why do people need to trust God? How does our level of trust change over time? Why can we not trust ourselves over God? What does God say about trust, and what examples does he use?

I’m down to 1 minute. These are questions that I leave you with to do your study. In these questions, I learned more and more about my trust level with God and God’s history over time of trust.
